Home Resolutions

Gyms are full, financial planners are busy and resolution lists continue to grow. Many people are working to lose weight, save more money and embrace new lifestyles. Don’t forget about your home resolutions. Make a goal to accomplish these items this year:

Review your insurance policies.

You should conduct an annual review of your policies with your independent insurance agent. He or she should walk you through your policy and keep you informed about what it does and does not cover. Additionally, you should update him or her on changes you may have made. Did you add a Smart Home alarm system? Did you install an anti-theft device in your car? You may be eligible for a credit on your policy.

Planning renovations?

Visit your independent insurance agent to review your property coverage. If you’re planning renovations in the new year, bring an estimate with you. Also, don’t forget to take an inventory of the contents of your home.

Conduct your annual inventory.

Throughout the years, we accumulate many different items. Especially after the holidays, you should review and make an inventory of the contents of your home in the event a fire or natural disaster occurs. Take pictures of each room and save them to the cloud or a place that you will always have access to. By having a list, you won’t forget any items in the event that you need to make a claim.

Have your insurance information at the ready.

According to Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, a majority of states across the country accept digital proof of auto insurance. If you have a Providence Mutual policy, you will always by ready with proof of insurance by adding the Policyholder Portal as on icon on the home screen of your smartphone.
