Sandra Glaser Parrillo, CPCU

President and Chief Executive Officer

Sandy Parrillo is President & Chief Executive Officer. Under her leadership she has built Providence Mutual into a financially strong and growing enterprise through the expansion of our products, the acquisition of talent, the application of sound underwriting fundamentals and the best practices of insurance carrier management. She joined the company in 1977 as an underwriter and progressed through several underwriting and management positions throughout her career. Serving as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2000, Sandy has embedded the promise of Service, Security and Stability throughout our company’s culture. She embodies the core principles of Providence Mutual which compel us to serve our policyholders when they need us the most. From 2010 to 2011, Sandy brought her passion for mutual insurance to the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) serving as its Chair. In this capacity she traveled the country in support of mutual insurance companies and testified before the United States House of Representatives advocating for adequate rates for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Sandy holds two Bachelor’s degrees from Rhode Island College, one in Business Management and the other in Mathematics, Magna Cum Laude. She earned her MBA with High Honors from the University of Rhode Island and was elected to the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and the Business Honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma. She earned the designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).

Her recognitions are numerous and include the Charles B. Willard Achievement Award from Rhode Island College. She has been recognized as one of the region’s 25 most industrious and influential business women in the Providence Business News’ 2008 Business Women edition. In 2010 she received the Women in Insurance Leadership Award from Insurance Networking News magazine. In 2011 she received the Distinguished Graduate Award from the University of Rhode Island College of Business Administration and was also named as the Insurance professional of the Year by the Insurance Library Association of Boston.

Sandy serves as a director of numerous organizations including Cranston Print Works, Mutual Fire Insurance Association, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, and the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council. She is Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Past Chair of the Governing Committee of the Rhode Island Joint Reinsurance Association and is a member of the Insurance Commission of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, the Rhode Island Governor’s Insurance Council, the Business Advisory Council for the University of Rhode Island’s College of Business Administration, the President’s Council of Providence College and the Board of Governors of the Rhode Island Commodores. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Institute for CPCU and an active member of the American Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters.

Sandy lives in North Smithfield, RI with her husband Richard and their daughter, Marissa and son, RJ.
